Administration Overview

The Administration section provides the tools required to configure and manage the operational environment of the XAUTOMATA platform.

While the Data Manager focuses on monitored infrastructure and monitoring configuration, the Administration section focuses on the management of the platform itself.

This includes:

  • user access
  • monitoring probes
  • notification systems
  • system messaging
  • security and permission management

These components define how the platform operates and how users interact with monitoring data.

Main Administrative Areas

The Administration section is organized into several entities that manage different aspects of the platform.

Users

Users represent the accounts that can access the platform.

Administrators can:

  • create user accounts
  • configure access permissions
  • manage authentication details
  • associate users with dashboards and monitoring scopes

More information is available in the Users section.

Virtual Domains

Virtual Domains provide logical partitions used to organize monitoring and administrative entities.

They are typically used to group:

  • users
  • probes
  • monitoring groups

This structure helps separate environments or customers in multi-tenant deployments.

More information is available in Virtual Domains.

Probes

Probes are the monitoring agents responsible for collecting data from monitored infrastructure.

They act as the operational bridge between the platform and the monitored environment.

Probes execute monitoring logic defined by Probe Types and send the collected data back to the platform.

More information is available in Probes.

Probe Types

Probe Types define the configuration and operational logic used by probes.

They specify how monitoring data should be collected and interpreted.

Each probe references a specific probe type that determines its monitoring behavior.

Messages

The Messages entity is used to manage system messages generated by the platform.

These messages may include:

  • system notifications
  • operational alerts
  • informational messages for administrators

This section allows administrators to review and manage message records.

Notification Providers

Notification Providers define the external communication channels used by the platform to deliver alerts and notifications.

Examples of notification channels may include:

  • email
  • messaging platforms
  • webhook integrations

These providers allow the monitoring system to communicate events outside the platform.

Notification Provider Types

Notification Provider Types define the technical configuration models used by notification providers.

They describe how each notification mechanism is structured and how it interacts with external systems.

Providers are created using these predefined types.

Role of Administration in the Platform

The Administration section controls the operational framework of the platform.

Administrators use it to:

  • manage access to the system
  • configure monitoring infrastructure
  • define notification channels
  • maintain the platform environment

Together with the Data Manager and Monitoring configuration, these administrative tools enable the platform to operate as a scalable monitoring and analytics system.
